Site 003. Grass Stains is a one day pop-up exhibition on the fields of Cooper Park in Brooklyn, featuring pieces by twelve artists working with painting, drawing, fiber, sculpture, glass and installation along with creatives working with writing, food, and sound. It is an afternoon of sharing love for the summer season, taking it slow to take naps under the sun, focus on sounds as they are, and enjoy the short moments of breeze on a grass field and play.

You are squeezing yourself into a picnic blanket; the next group is playing music too loud but you couldn’t care less; grass moves like gentle waves; you watch time pass by looking at the large clouds as they move faster; you hear an ice cream truck driving by; people are getting in line for a hotdog; you worry about getting burnt or getting a stain from the wet grass; as the wet grass smell gets to you, you can’t stop thinking about a tall cold drink.

We collectively take this day at the park to appreciate these moments that come only from the season, to celebrate summer love, to claim temporary escape and rest. This grass field is open to vulnerability, overtly romantic ideas, and making of messes (and cleaning them up). Site and artists invite you to embrace the ambiguity between site and installation without walls, and accept the presentation blended with the field during the afternoon of July 20th.
